(Los Angeles, CA) –Utility Workers Union of America represents over 5,000 Southern California Gas employees from Templeton in Northern California to Blythe California that borders Arizona. Sempra Energy is the parent company of Southern California Gas Company a public / private partnership.

Over the last several years Sempra has greatly reduced the services to gas customers while making series cuts in workers. These cuts come at a time of great corporate profit for Sempra that has reported close to $4 billion in profit since 2008. Sempra has also increased its corporate executive pay during this time. The top five executives of Sempra paid themselves $91million over the last three years. They are making billions while paying themselves millions.

The workers at Sempra Gas Company are asking to share in the company’s prosperity and to return gas service to safer levels. The workers also want to protect the medical benefits for retirees, protect military and maternity leave benefits, fight the increase in part time workers and earn decent wage increases.
