L.A. Labor Delegations Swarm Grocery Stores

The Screen Actors Guild’s delegation visited the Ralphs at 5601 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. They delivered a letter in support of grocery workers and told the manager if a strike is called, they will not cross the picket line. They will support the workers and build community support.

State Assemblymember Warren Furutani, Long Beach Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell and the Mayor of Carson Jim Dear joined a community and labor delegation from South L.A. to march to the Ralphs in Carson. Carrying signs that read, “Health Care Not Welfare for Grocery Workers,” they filled the front of the store and told the manager the corporations need to settle a fair contract now because they will stand with grocery workers on the picket line until a fair contract is reached.

State Assemblymember Anthony Portantino, Baldwin Park Councilmember Susan Rubio and Montebello Unified School Boardmember Ed Chau joined community and labor supporters to meet with the store manager at the Albertsons in Monrovia.  They let the grocery workers and the store manager know that they will stand with them and walk the picket line if they go on strike.
