Construction Workers, Hotel Workers and Stagehands Drum Up Support for Farmers Field in Mar Vista

On
Saturday, July 23, almost 100 workers from several building trades
unions, IATSE, and UNITE HERE handed out 5,000 door hangers to Mar Vista
households to drum up support for Farmers Field that could create more
than 30,000 good jobs in L.A. The door hangers read, “Paychecks Pay the
Bills” with an image of the proposed downtown stadium and event center.

After grabbing a big stack to pass out to the community, Carl Pace, an
electrician with IBEW 11, stated, “I’ve been out of work for 18 months.
We need to band together to get more work. Farmers Field will be like
the Hoover Dam during the Depression.”
