200 Janitors and Supporters Protest Worksite Raids

SEIU-USWW Calls for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

On Tuesday, June 21, more than 200 janitors and community supporters gathered at the Federal Building to protest the repeated ICE worksite raids that are spreading fear and disillusionment in the Latino community.

“What happened to the hope?” asked Ana Castro, a union janitor in Los Angeles. Her question expresses the frustration over the Department of Homeland Security’s stepped up work site enforcement aimed at hard working employees, instead of the “worst of the worst” employers that were supposed to be the focus of the administration’s attention.

Los Angeles janitors will continue to protest non-stop ICE raids and speak out against a Republican agenda that vilifies immigrants while profiting from their labor.
