Inglewood Teachers Turned Out Community to Save Our Schools

On Tuesday, May 3, Inglewood
teachers, professional and support staff turned out hundreds of
energized parents, students, community, faith, and union members outside
of Inglewood City Hall at a rally to “Save Our Schools.”

Union members from UTLA, UNITE HERE Local 11, SEIU 99, SEIU 721, and
more showed up in solidarity with signs that read, “No Wisconsin. No
Arizona. We’re California. We stand for rights for all.”

Amidst a statewide budget crisis in public education, the Inglewood
School District may be one of the hardest hit.  More than 390 out of 650
teachers, nurses, counselors, and psychologists have received pink
slips. The District is discussing the possibility of increasing class
size up to 60 students per class.
