The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO’s delegate body last night issued their endorsements for the upcoming 2012 primary elections. Endorsements were made in seats ranging from U.S. Congress to Long Beach City Council.
Delegates representing over 300 Los Angeles County Federation of Labor affiliated unions made their selection based on several factors including a candidate’s position and/or voting record on issues such as creating good middle class jobs, the right to organize and collective bargaining, affordable health care for all, and safe and healthy workplaces.
“In this economy, our labor movement believes our elected representatives must be bold and strong in their convictions to create good jobs. We expect politicians to stand up for working men and women across Los Angeles County,” says Maria Elena Durazo, executive secretary-treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO. “The Federation’s endorsements are the result of a thorough and rigorous democratic process. We will ensure the voices of working men and women are heard on election day by encouraging voters to support our endorsed candidates.”
