“I want to show solidarity with Wal-Mart workers.”

–Headstart teacher Marietta Calva

“I live in Montebello. I teach pre-Kindergarten children. I believe in fair working conditions and it is important to me to show my fellow teachers that they deserve respect and dignity on the job. I am marching against Wal-Mart for the same reasons, so Wal-Mart workers can achieve fair pay, respect and dignity at Wal-Mart.

I want to show solidarity with Wal-Mart workers. I also want to show Wal-Mart workers and all workers who are afraid to organize that they don’t have to be afraid.

Come out and march with us on June 30 because there is power in numbers, and we have to fight Wal-Mart together.”

–Marietta Calva, Headstart teacher, member of AFT Local 1475
