“I’m bringing my son, my nephew and all the grandkids to the march in Chinatown to stop Walmart.”

-Angel Blanco, longshoreman, member of ILWU Local 13

“I live in Wilmington by the harbor. Being a longshoreman, Walmart is a big customer of the shipping industry. It may be in our own best interest, as longshoremen, to support the Walmart business plan, but as part of organized labor, it is in our best interest to fight against Walmart and every other company that copies its business plan of pushing American jobs to the bottom.

I went to Arizona with L.A. Labor to fight the anti-immigrant law SB 1070. I went to Wisconsin to fight the anti-union law to end collective bargaining. I’ll be in Chinatown in Los Angeles to fight back against Walmart trying to move into our L.A. and hurt our communities.

I’m bringing my son, my nephew and all the grandkids to the march in Chinatown.  The whole clan will be there.  If having a living wage, a better job interests you, then be part of this. Be part of the solution. It’s all of our work to do.”
