No one needs to tell America’s working families about the state of the economy.  Unemployment remains at record levels, and working people continue to struggle just to survive.

Extending unemployment benefits was an important step, but we need to send a CLEAR MESSAGE to our elected officials in Sacramento and Washington D.C.

WE NEED GOOD JOBS NOW.

Join AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, working people, environmental and business groups, the faith-based community, and others and RALLY FOR JOBS.

Workers from across LA County are getting together to demand greater public investment in the creation of good jobs.

Here in Los Angeles, the best example of the type of public investment we are calling for is the “30/10 Initiative” which is a plan to complete 30 years of public transit projects within 10 years.  Speeding up construction projects that voters have already approved means putting people back to work sooner rather than later.

The 30/10 Initiative would:

  • Create 166,000 good jobs in LA County
  • Take cars of the roads, which will reduce traffic congestion and improve the nation’s worst air
  • Reduce our dependence on foreign oil
